The Trinity SHPE Jr. FIRST Robotics team was sponsored by LM Corporate Engineering and Technology (CE&T). The team was made up of two FIRST teams – Team #4745 Orozco’s Army and #6169 Maximum Entropy. The Trinity SHPE Jr. students designed a robot with high-speed 4x4 SHPE Jr. drivetrain system to pick-up rings with a hand and place them on a rack to score points. Both Trinity FIRST robotics teams advanced to the Regional FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition at UTA on March 16, 2013 after each qualifying in their
respective home Dallas and Fort Worth qualifying tournaments. The FIRST Tech Challenge consisted of a robot hardware/software design inspections, match play tournament, and judges interviews. Following the match play competition, then the top four teams advanced to a single elimination tournament to determine the champion. At the end of the tournament, there was an awards presentation. Orozco’s Army won Motivate special judges award, and Maximum Entropy won the Connect award as well as runner-up to the Competition’s top judges’ award the Inspire award. Maximum Entropy also won an award for being runner-up in the overall Regional Competition tournament on the 2

Following the competition, the Trinity FIRST team was invited to a end of year celebration at the LM Aeronautics factory on April 5. During the factory tour, the students were given a overview of Lockheed Martin Corporation and F-35 program followed by a tour of the F-35 assembly line and then test flying skills in the F-35 cockpit demonstration in the Aeronautics Visitor Center. On May 18, the SHPE LM Aero Trinity FIRST robotics committee members were invited to attend a Trinity Robotics Club end of the year banquet at Bob Eden Park in Euless on May 18. During the banquet, the mentors were able to network with the kids and school advisor enjoying each other's company with grilled Hamburgers, Brisket, and Hot Dogs for dinner, a cake, and lots of special of awards.
