Noche de Ciencias

On Thursday, January 21st the chapter hosted a Noche De Ciencias “Science Night” at North Side High School. Events included a keynote address by Fort Worth ISD Board President Jacinto Ramos, student with engineer volunteer speed mentoring, five simultaneous engineering in the classroom activities (EITC), a College 101 workshop, and two parents’ financial workshops being presented in English and Spanish. Food was also provided to all in attendance sponsored by Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FWHCC) and prepared by the North Side High School Culinary Academy.

The event was a huge success with over 300 individuals in attendance including over 160 students, 68 SHPE and LM volunteers, and 48 parents. It was the largest Noche de Ciencias in our chapter’s history and the largest academic event aside from STAAR/AP testing for North Side High School. Our event received incredible exposure and was featured in SHPE National media, and was regionally recognized by FWHCC, SHPE Region V, and FWISD to name a few. The chapter would like to thank all our volunteers and sponsors that made this event possible, and especially FWISD and North Side High School for hosting the event. Also, a final shootout to Samantha Dominguez for all her hard work coordinating and leading this record event.
