Our Vice President of Community Outreach, Lorena Loucel, attended the 29th Annual National Institute for Leadership Advancement (NILA) on behalf of SHPE at LM Aero. NILA 2015 was held August 5th through the 9th at Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA. NILA is SHPE’s Premier Leadership Training Program for 2015-2016 school year chapter executive board members. NILA offers invaluable leadership, chapter, and personal development opportunities culminating in becoming a “Certified Chapter Leader”.  Lorena was able to experience hands-on activities that helped to further strengthen her soft skills for the chapter. In addition, she was able to engage and interact with over two hundred of the brightest Latino and Hispanic professionals, students, and corporate representatives from Fortune 500 Companies. NILA included workshops such as managing chapter operations, creating a high performance organization, developing sustainable relationships, the power of motivation, expected communication for leaders, and chapter financial management. Congratulations to Lorena for obtaining her NILA certification and we look forward to having her as our incoming vice president of community outreach at Lockheed Martin-Aeronautics! |
